Sharkly updates are published by date. Each update is grouped into three categories:

2026-09-23

New

  • Library CLI: use sharkly library to manage your personal library and Space document collections from the terminal — browse, search, create, upload, view, edit, download, move, and delete items, and create, reorder, or delete collections. Every operation requires an explicit scope (your personal library or a specific collection); the CLI does not guess.

Improvements

  • Pick a working directory on a remote computer: when setting the working directory for an Agent on a remote computer from a conversation, you now choose a folder on that computer instead of typing a path. Only the computer's owner, or someone the computer is shared with, can change it.
  • Easier sync settings: the sync settings for an external account now open in a drawer. When something needs your attention, an amber notice appears directly under the row with the action to take, so you do not have to expand anything.
  • Board display settings are remembered: the display settings you change on a board are saved for your account across refreshes, revisits, and reopening display settings, and are kept separate per Space and board. A dot marks settings that differ from the team default; you can reset them or set the current choice as the default for everyone.
  • Colored patches: viewing a patch or diff attachment now highlights added and removed lines in different colors and adds code syntax highlighting where possible.
  • Create an Agent from a template: the template field previously labelled Persona instructions is now Agent instructions and can be edited directly. When a template includes skills, they are listed with everything selected by default so you can deselect what you do not need.

Fixes

  • Failed conversations open again: clicking a failed conversation in the conversation list or a notification now opens it so you can review what went wrong.
  • Progress is kept after you stop a run: after stopping an Agent reply, refreshing the conversation still shows the steps it had already produced instead of only your message.
  • Re-editing a pasted image no longer shows a blank thumbnail: after pasting and sending an image, editing the message again shows the image preview correctly.
  • Underscores are no longer escaped: typing something like dev_notes no longer stores it as dev\_notes.
  • Run queue keeps the task panel open: opening a run's task panel from an Agent's run queue no longer makes the panel disappear.
  • Scheduled-task wording: "every four" is now "every Thursday" in the schedule editor.
  • Selectors no longer overlap in narrow windows: in a half-width browser window, the Runtime and model selectors in the Agent dialog no longer overlap the composer.
  • Set working directory dialog no longer overflows: long text wraps or truncates, and Change stays inside the dialog.
  • Sync settings keep existing mappings: opening sync settings for an existing organization now shows the user mappings configured during earlier imports, and keeps the target and direction of status mappings as well as explicit "not matched" decisions when you save.

2026-09-22

New

  • Board columns: on boards grouped into columns you can reorder columns by dragging and hide the ones you do not need, with a one-click reset. Tasks in hidden columns are kept and return to their column when shown again.

Improvements

  • Task chat in a side panel: the chat on a task now opens in a side panel with a Chat with Agent header and its conversation history; assigning a task to an Agent expands it automatically when the run starts. Activity no longer has a separate Chat tab.
  • Tool calls in chat: finished tool calls collapse into a single-line summary, only the active step stays expanded, and raw input is no longer shown by default. File, search, and web tools use dedicated cards.
  • Branch per repository: you can set a base branch for a Git repository and task workspaces start from it. Local folders in isolated (parallel) mode can set a branch too; leave it empty to use the remote default or the current branch.

Fixes

  • Failed replies keep their progress: when an Agent request fails, the intermediate output it already produced stays visible and can be expanded, instead of leaving a blank area.
  • Working Agents are not shown offline: in the new-conversation Agent picker, an Agent that is working no longer shows an offline marker on its avatar.
  • Changing Agent settings mid-chat keeps context: editing Agent settings during a conversation no longer moves the working directory, so the conversation keeps its context.
  • No false offline while upgrading: the desktop app shows an upgrading state while it updates the local service during a running task, instead of marking the Computer offline and interrupting the task.
  • Local service status and repair flow: "Repair local service" no longer appears while a Runtime is shown as available, so the UI no longer contradicts itself. The repair dialog uses plain-language steps, keeps the original error for troubleshooting, and offers One-click repair and Repair from terminal.
  • Model picker hint: the "models from the last detection" hint no longer stays under the Model row after the picker closes.
  • Manual Agent status: manually setting an Agent status now includes every status, such as Working.
  • Multiple tabs: keeping several Sharkly tabs open, especially during Agent conversations, no longer slows the browser down noticeably.

2026-09-21

New

  • ZCode: ZCode is now a supported Runtime and can be installed from Computer details.

Fixes

  • Newly detected Runtimes: a Runtime detected after the local service starts can pick up tasks again after a re-scan, instead of staying online but idle.
  • Private-network Jira: when binding a Jira instance through a private-network proxy fails, the error now states the actual cause instead of a generic "cannot find your Jira instance".

2026-09-17

Improvements

  • Specified working directory: choose isolated (parallel worktrees, original folder unchanged) or run directly in the folder (serial). Isolated mode supports one directory.
  • Comment attachments: deleting an attachment from the body permanently removes the file; moving it out of the body keeps it as a standalone attachment. Clearing a comment that has no remaining attachments asks whether to delete the comment.
  • Long comments: long comments collapse by default; choose Expand all to read the full text, or Collapse to fold it again.
  • Computer startup: this Computer can start at login, start when the app opens, or start only when you start it. After you stop it from the CLI, the desktop app does not immediately start it again during that session.
  • Installer in use: if the target program is already running, the installer stops this product first, or asks before replacing a file held by another program.
  • More Runtimes: the Runtime picker can open Computer details so you can install Runtimes that are not connected yet.

Fixes

  • Webhook URL: the private URL stays on screen after you create an automation webhook, so you can copy it.
  • Allowed Organizations: when this Computer is connected but the current Organization is not allowed, the product asks you to edit allowed Organizations instead of showing Starting or a missing Runtime.
  • Manual Runtime path: a manually saved executable path stays selected and is not reset to Auto-detected.
  • Assistant chat: archiving the last custom Agent does not turn the assistant conversation into an archived-Agent session.
  • Switch Organization: assistant chat continues after you switch Organization, without restarting the local service.
  • Runtime errors: when a Runtime fails because of account or subscription issues, the product shows that tool's own error.
  • Triage: task types imported from external tools include a triage status after you enable Triage, so new tasks appear in the inbox.
  • Type filter: the board type filter lists task types that are actually in use, including imported types.

2026-09-16

New

  • Slack task assistant: each Space can bind a task assistant from the Slack integration page, then @ it in a channel to turn conversation context into a Task.
  • No repository needed: when creating a code-development Agent, you can skip Git and a local directory. This is for generating throwaway code without an existing project.
  • Suggested Agent names: the create form recommends a set of names drawn from film, literature, and games.
  • Files back to Slack: when a conversation starts from Slack, files the Agent sends return to that Slack conversation. Older Slack bots may need to be reconnected or created again before they can send files.

Improvements

  • Offline Skill install: adding a Skill while the Computer is offline shows Waiting for computer. The Skill is queued and installs once the computer is back online, instead of staying on Waiting for CLI.
  • Open Computer details: unavailable Computers or Runtimes include View computer after you hover. Abnormal status in chat includes View details.
  • Comment more menu: Edit is at the top of the menu, and editing focuses the comment so you can type immediately.
  • Create Agent validation: switching work mode clears stale errors; an empty specified directory asks you to enter a path or choose another mode.

Fixes

  • Create Agent on the web: creating an Agent in the browser completes instead of doing nothing.
  • OpenCode executable path: detecting and saving an OpenCode path on Windows no longer fails during setup.
  • CLI login: after sharkly login --token, the CLI can list organizations.
  • Local data directory: preparing this Computer works when the local data directory is a symbolic link.
  • Duplicate status: a task marked duplicate can be moved to another status.
  • Transfer Computer: after transferring a Computer on Windows, Start and Stop work again.
  • Drawer chat images: in task-drawer chat, image preview responds to the arrow keys.

  • Chat working directory: when chatting with an Agent, you can set a working directory for that conversation, or keep following the Agent default.

Improvements

  • Run settings: assigned-task concurrency and chat concurrency can be set separately. The working-directory field is now the default working directory.
  • App updates: background updates no longer pop up a new-version toast. Use Check for updates when you want the prompt. Computer details can ask you to restart to finish an update, or upgrade the CLI on a remote Computer.
  • Repair and reconnect: if this Computer is still local-only or the local service failed to start, you can open Repair and reconnect and copy the repair command.
  • Create a Crew: if there is no Agent yet, creating a Crew guides you to create an Agent first.
  • Crew roles: a member’s role is edited in the Agent details, not as a separate role name on the Crew.
  • Notifications: if a comment @mentions you, you get the mention notification only, not a duplicate new-comment notification. Status and comment notification titles are also clearer.
  • Runtime names: user-visible Runtime names no longer incorrectly add CLI or Code suffixes.
  • Custom arguments: Agent and Runtime custom arguments keep the line breaks you entered.
  • Runtime language: Agent runtime command help and output follow the current UI language.
  • Synced task details: GitHub and other synced tasks use the same source banner in task detail as Jira-synced tasks.

Fixes

  • This-computer status: this computer no longer looks online when it cannot connect, stay Starting on Windows, or disagree with Test connection.
  • Windows Runtime start: some Runtimes on Windows can start again.
  • Skill install status: installing a skill no longer shows a CLI-upgrade prompt while it is still installing.
  • Connect-computer platform: connecting a new Computer on macOS opens the macOS steps instead of Windows.
  • Local labels in create and settings: Computer and Runtime options, including the local label, stay consistent across entries.

2026-09-14

New

  • Workflow variables: the Space automation area adds a Variables tab for shared values used by workflows.
  • Workflow connectors: third-party credentials are managed as connectors. Workflow nodes select an existing connection, and the desktop app can finish authorization in the system browser.

Improvements

  • Organization settings renames the Tasks group to Global configuration. Default task labels, task statuses, task link types, and custom fields live in this group and are available to every Space.
  • Computer connect backoff: when connecting a Computer is rate limited, the app waits and retries automatically. You can cancel the wait. This is not treated as a local-service failure.
  • Reconnect after repair: if repairing the local service from the UI fails, the app guides you to reconnect the Computer.
  • Archive chat: archiving a chat shows a light confirmation you can undo. It no longer opens the chat library to confirm.
  • Open Computer from chat: when an Agent is offline or starting, the prompt can open that Computer.
  • Space sidebar More: the Tasks section includes More. You can pin Sprints, views, and Projects to the sidebar for yourself only.
  • Runtime names and CLI hints: the install guide uses Kimi Code, and adds CLI-not-desktop hints for Runtimes that need them.
  • Slack workflow triggers: Slack events can start a workflow.
  • Lark connectors: the workflow toolbar shows Lark. Credentials are managed as connectors, and nodes select an existing connection.

Fixes

  • Filter tasks by label: task list --label now filters by label.
  • Remote attachments: Agents on a remote Computer can read attachments uploaded in the current chat.
  • Inbox mark all read: Mark all as read in the Inbox now applies when it previously had no effect.
  • Runtime detection: rescan no longer hangs while the Computer is online, and installed Runtimes are no longer shown as not detected.
  • Agent updates to existing tasks: an Agent can update existing tasks beyond the one created or assigned in the current run.

2026-09-11

New

  • Jira self-hosted sign-in: for Jira Server or Data Center, choose a personal access token or a username and password.

Improvements

  • Desktop upgrade recovery: while the desktop app upgrades the local service, the Computer shows Upgrading and comes back online afterwards. If you stop it, it stays stopped.
  • Runtimes unavailable to the Space: in Agent settings, a Runtime that the Computer does not allow for the Agent's Space is listed but disabled, with an explanation.
  • Intranet proxy for Jira: connecting or importing a private-network Jira host uses the private-network proxy.
  • Run-queue details: open a row in the Agent run queue to see that run's conversation.
  • Assistant Local/Remote: the built-in assistant shows whether it is running locally or remotely.
  • Viewer triage tasks: in a Space with Triage enabled, Viewers can create tasks in Triage and cannot create other statuses.

Fixes

  • Space identifier warning: creating a Space no longer shows an occupied-identifier error when the Space was actually saved.
  • Unavailable Agents: unavailable Agents can be removed from the chat sidebar.

2026-09-10

New

  • After connecting Jira: when a Jira connection succeeds, Sharkly prompts you to set up data sync or import existing work. Connecting Jira does not sync or import by itself.
  • Sharkly Assistant: a personal assistant under My Tasks is created the first time you open it. It has no settings page; choose its Runtime in the chat composer.

Improvements

  • Computer starting state: starting or restarting the local computer shows Starting instead of Offline; a successful restart is confirmed.
  • Desktop occupancy recovery: if Start is blocked by another process, recover in the app instead of sending people to the terminal.
  • Runtime CLI setup: when a Runtime is not detected, the product can tell you to install the CLI rather than the desktop app.
  • Runtime sign-in guidance: if a Runtime is unsigned-in or unauthorized, detection and chat point you to the command to run on that computer.
  • Board filter counts: filter option counts use all tasks in the current board scope, not the already-narrowed result.
  • Environment variables and custom parameters: edit them in a table; secret values stay hidden by default.
  • Automation notification recipients: creating an Automation or adding a trigger defaults the creator as a run-result recipient; the list can still be cleared.
  • View context menu: right-click a view, including one folded into More, to open that view's menu.
  • Comment @ Agent: @ mentioning an Agent in a task comment opens that Agent's task conversation. A plain comment no longer starts the Assignee.
  • Offline Runtime selection: create or rebind an Agent with an offline Runtime on an offline Computer; the local Computer is listed first and labeled (local).
  • Specify a model in custom arguments: set a model in Agent or Runtime custom arguments. There is no separate model dropdown.
  • Board card context menu: right-click a board card to open the task, copy its link, or change its status.
  • Per-view display mode: board, list, or table is saved with each View, so switching Views no longer keeps the previous display mode.
  • Chat preparation progress: before an Agent starts, the conversation shows clone, worktree, and checkout progress.
  • Help when stuck: if connection or detection is stuck, open the docs or contact the Sharkly community.

Fixes

  • Local service start: fixed a case where a leftover local service could leave Start stuck.
  • Inbox Automation notifications: opening an Automation notification now marks it read.
  • Inbox unread counts: Other unread counts stay accurate while that list is not yet open.
  • Network error state: unavailable network shows a network-error state with reload, instead of unrelated setup guidance.
  • Agent task attachments: Agents can attach files to the current Task and Tasks they create during a run.
  • Not detected vs Starting: a Runtime that is not detected no longer shows as Starting.
  • Missing CLI prompt: if the Computer is online but the CLI is missing, the composer says that computer does not have the CLI instead of saying the Agent is offline.
  • Image preview Esc: Esc closes the image preview in a task description and does not close task detail.
  • Connection error details: Jira connection failures show the specific reason without expanding.

  • Mouse board panning: drag left or right from the empty space between board columns to browse a wide board.

Improvements

  • Review quick reply: sending “Reviewed, no issues” now clears the pending-review marker and keeps the result consistent in lists, Task details, and after refresh.
  • Account and Organization restore: after restarting the client, Sharkly returns to the selected account and Organization from the previous session; expired entries can still be reauthenticated.
  • Agent assignment selector: clearer Agent-assignment wording and a more useful empty state when no Agent is available, including a path to create one.
  • Run details: open run details in a drawer with a full-width, scrollable result area while keeping the Task context available.
  • Large attachments: attachments that cannot be previewed now use a clear Download action, with feedback and file-location assistance after completion.

  • Runtime detection result: fixed a false “recovery result unknown” report after manually configuring a Runtime executable.
  • Rail status refresh: fixed stale Rail status and an incorrect gray status dot in intermittent cases.
  • Sharkly CLI: fixed a crash in a specific exceptional scenario without affecting the daemon.
  • Bulk-edit input: fixed left-shifted text alignment in the bulk-edit input.

  • Create a Space during import: create a new Space while starting a Jira import, then return to the import flow with it selected.
  • Automation run-result notifications: choose one or more People to receive a notification when an Automation finishes.
  • Inbox mention reminders: mention someone in task quick chat or an Agent conversation and they receive a Primary Inbox reminder that opens the related task or conversation.

Improvements

  • Agent type defaults: when you create an Agent, Sharkly recommends Code development or Daily work based on the Space's purpose and remembers your last choice.
  • Daily work Agents: creating a Daily work Agent no longer requires code-related information.
  • Space names: Spaces in one Organization can share a name; use their icon, color, and other Space details to tell them apart.
  • Multi-select filters: filter values that support multiple selections now show checkboxes, making the selection range clearer.
  • Reply composer: the reply composer can expand without losing your draft, long text, or pasted images.
  • Runtime configuration: Computer details explain the Runtime status more clearly and provide installation and setup guidance.
  • Sharing experience: sharing images and web pages is clearer and easier to use.
  • Thought display: consecutive Thought content is grouped together and the wording is clearer.

  • Attachments: fixed an issue with attachment uploads.
  • Jira sync: fixed an issue that could assign the wrong task type during sync.

  • Desktop Computer connection: when you connect a new Computer from the desktop app, the CLI / local-service method is now recommended and expanded by default; the web app continues to put the desktop-app method first.

  • Member-selector subscriptions: members selected in a member-selector custom field are automatically subscribed when a Task is created or the field is changed. Single-select and multi-select fields are supported, with consistent behavior across the web app, CLI, and API.
  • More Task fields for workflow triggers: the Task field changed trigger now supports Sprint, Task type, Parent task, Project, and other available built-in and custom fields.
  • Selector search in Views: search for values in filter data selectors while staying within the current visible scope; browsing values one by one remains available.

Improvements

  • Clearer Agent-chat notification audiences: replies and related handoff notices in a task conversation are directed to the conversation starter instead of being broadcast to every subscriber or earlier participant. Ordinary comments continue to follow task subscription and notification settings.

  • Advanced Get started guide: after the first checklist, continue with project-management, messaging, and Git-platform connections, create a Crew or Automation, or invite People; entries depend on the available Organization, Space, and integrations.
  • Agent mentions in quick replies: quick replies can save and send a valid Agent mention, including when the quick reply is inserted into a comment, reply, or Agent Chat composer.
  • Unified Skills entry point: use + Add Skills to select a Space Skill, create a Skill manually, upload files or a folder, import from a supported URL, or import from an online Runtime.
  • Typed Agent creation: create an Agent in a single-page form with Code development, Daily work, or the coming-soon Design & creative type; Code development requires a Git repository or a specified working directory containing the code.

Improvements

  • Organization avatar settings: Organization administrators can choose an icon or emoji, upload an image, or restore the default avatar in general organization settings; the saved avatar appears in organization entry points and the sidebar.
  • Automation configuration flow: creating and editing an Automation is more direct, with clearer paths through the details page and configuration form.
  • Desktop update and local-service recovery: the local service recovers more reliably after desktop updates, including startup, stop, restart, and reconnection.

Fixes

  • Manual interruption notices: manual interruption notices no longer remain at the end of later messages and stay associated with the reply that was interrupted.

2026-08-25

New

  • Share conversations and task comments: select one or more completed conversation messages, images, or task comments to create a share link or share image. Links can be visible to anyone with the link or Organization members only, and can be revoked at any time.
  • Runtime startup defaults: Computer owners can configure the executable, default additional arguments, and environment variables for a detected Runtime. The executable is checked before it is saved.
  • Assign a Task from Agent details: search for an existing Task in the Agent's Space or create a new one directly from Agent details, then assign it to that Agent.

Improvements

  • Advanced Get started entries: after the first checklist, the advanced guide now leads to Slack and available Git-platform connections.
  • About Sharkly: Settings now includes Other → About Sharkly, which shows the current version on web and desktop. In the desktop app, you can also check for available updates.

Fixes

  • Organization root entry: Opening an organization root now honors your Task first or Chat first layout preference instead of showing blank content.
  • Desktop local-service startup: Startup now recovers from temporary network or server failures while verifying your session, instead of remaining unavailable after one transient error.

2026-08-23

New

  • Official Runtime installation guidance: Computer details now provide the vendor's official installation guide for each supported Runtime. After installing a tool, rescan or test the connection instead of copying an unverified command from the docs.
  • Task field-change trigger: Automation workflows can trigger on a selected Task type and field, including built-in and custom fields. Priority changes can also be limited to a target new priority.
  • Personal View ordering and pinning in All Tasks: drag Personal Views to reorder them and pin the Views you use most. These preferences affect only you and do not change a shared View or another person's order.
  • Import Jira history after sync: after creating a sync link, you can start a historical import from the Jira integration or import history. Existing Tasks are skipped by default; overwriting them requires an explicit confirmation.

Improvements

  • Runtime capability guidance: clearer separation between an online Computer and an executable Runtime, with a direct next step when a Runtime is not installed.
  • Jira re-import safety: the history flow resets overwrite to off, shows the existing-Task count before an overwrite, and keeps the dialog open when starting the import fails.
  • All Tasks View navigation: Views that do not fit in a narrow layout remain available in the more menu, where Personal Views can still be reordered.
  • Automation workflow output: field-change triggers expose the selected field's previous and new values, even when one update changes more than one field.
  • View preference isolation: personal pinning and ordering are kept separate from Favorites and from Space-configured task-type filters.

Improvements

  • Quick chat task history: starting a quick chat from a Task now keeps its own conversation and execution record on that Task, so you can reopen the context and follow the run without leaving the Task.

Fixes

  • The Task comment toolbar no longer covers text while you type.
  • Released Tasks remain visible in their Project's Task list.

  • Multiple account sign-in and switching: keep more than one signed-in account and switch from the account menu. Expired accounts can be reauthenticated.

Improvements

  • Jira sync troubleshooting: sync failures show a more specific underlying Jira error, with retry and focused troubleshooting guidance.
  • Inbox Space filters: the Space picker now matches My tasks and lists only Spaces you have joined.

  • Multiple assignees: a Space can allow several people on one task. Everyone in that set is equivalent; there is no primary owner. Agent / Crew stay on a separate execution slot.
  • Filter tasks by custom field in the CLI: sharkly task list --field field=value. Type-aware exact match; repeated --field flags are ANDed and combine with existing filters.
  • Jira import then sync: the import wizard can enable bidirectional sync with the credentials already entered. An intranet proxy computer chosen in step 1 is reused for the sync connection.

Improvements

  • Desktop chat attachments can be downloaded directly; after download, the file's folder opens.
  • The Jira import wizard can copy vendor diagnostic details when the connection check fails.

  • A task can have multiple assignees, enabled in Space settings. Import and sync keep every assignee instead of only the first.
  • Offline access now shows a custom page with a refresh button to reconnect.

Improvements

  • Get started guidance is more compact on small screens, with tighter spacing, single-line titles, and a progress ring.
  • Task detail conversation styling is cleaner.

Fixes

  • Import history no longer stays on Importing after the import has finished.
  • Inbox no longer shows unread activity that is missing from the list.
